WEDNESDAY: Neighborhood Candidates Forum

Please join the Sloan’s Lake Citizens Group for a candidates forum this Wednesday, April 8th from 7:00-8:30 pm at Family Star Montessori.

Sloan’s Lake Citizens Group (SLCG) has invited neighboring organizations Jefferson Park United Neighbors (JPUN) and Federal Boulevard Partnership (FBP) to join them in presenting a neighborhood candidates forum. This forum will give voters an opportunity to hear from both the Council District 1 candidates as well as the candidates for Auditor address issues important to our local community. Our State House District 4 Representative, Dan Pabon, has agreed to be the moderator.

District 1 incumbent Susan Shepherd and challenger Rafael Espinoza have both confirmed their participation in the forum. Also, the two candidates for City Auditor Chris Nevitt and Timothy O’Brien have confirmed attendance, though they will only briefly address their candidacies at the start of the forum.

The District 1 candidates are provided time for opening and closing statements. Each organization will have five questions for the candidates – fifteen in total. Of the five questions from each organization, two will be “rapid-fire” where the candidates will have 30 seconds to respond.

The forum is open to the public and for those of you that don’t walk, there are parking lots behind the Family Star building that can be accessed off W. 23rd and 22nd Avenues.
